Vertical has secured the worldwide rights to distribute the upcoming science-fiction thriller film, Parallel, featuring actors Danielle Deadwyler, Aldis Hodge, and Edwin Hodge. The film, directed by Kourosh Ahari and written by Jonathan Keasey and the Hodge brothers, is set to release in theaters later this year. It is a remake of the award-winning Chinese film Parallel Forest, produced by Sean Lydiard, Jaylen Moore, Edwin Hodge, Aldis Hodge, Keasey, Elliot Michael Smith, and Ann Zhang.
The plot follows the story of Vanessa, portrayed by Deadwyler, who takes refuge at her family’s lake house with her husband Alex, played by Aldis Hodge, and his brother Martel, played by Edwin Hodge, after the loss of their child. Vanessa experiences a bizarre attack from a version of herself from a parallel universe, causing her to face the fact that multiverses exist. She must come to terms with this realization and the parallel gates that either offer her solace or trap her forever.
The film’s executive producers include Richie Doyle, Raja Collins, Jovanna Burke, Deadwyler, Lei Zheng, Chengxi Li, Alex Bretow, Randall J. Bacon, Joseph Lanius, and Vertical’s Peter Jarowey, Rich Goldberg, and Kristin Harris, as well as BondIt’s Luke Taylor, Tyler Gould, and Mathew Helderman. Additional executive producers include Danny R. Carmona, Alex Farnham, Charles H LaHaie, Dean Sheske, Michelle Seanez, Kris Meyer, Ron Baptiste, and Ray Coleman. The film’s associate producer is Sammi Farber, and it is produced by Rumble Riot Pictures and Hodge Brothers Productions.
