Jessica Chastain, the Academy Award-winning actress from The Eyes of Tammy Faye, is now taking her talents to Apple with her own show, The Savant. This limited series will span eight episodes and is based on a real-life story from Cosmopolitan magazine.
The show was created by Melissa James Gibson, who is no stranger to the small screen, having previously worked on the acclaimed drama series “The Americans”.
The Savant has been getting a lot of buzz lately, but unfortunately, details about its plot and characters are still under wraps. Melissa James Gibson, known for her work on Anatomy of a Scandal and The Americans, is the showrunner for this co-production between Fifth Season (previously known as Endeavor Content) and Anonymous Content. Gibson has an overall deal with Fifth Season, so we can expect a lot of exciting things from her in the near future!
Matthew Heineman will lead the project, with executive producers Jessica Chastain and Brian Gibson also on board. Chastain’s production company, Freckle Films, will collaborate with Apple and Anonymous Content on this venture. The two parties have already worked together on Dickinson and The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey. Kelly Carmichael and Jessica Giles will join the team as executive producers, while Brian Madden from Hearst Magazines will act as a producer. Andrea Stanley, the writer of the original story, is also lending her expertise in a consulting capacity.
In August 2019, Stanley wrote a story about the possibility of stopping mass shootings before they happen. This story follows a female investigator known as ‘The Savant’ who is on a mission to prevent the most dangerous criminals in the country from committing their crimes. While Apple hasn’t provided any further information on this topic.
Jessica Chastain is set to grace the small screen again in the upcoming series, The Savant. Her past TV work, George & Tammy, earned her award nominations and she starred in the critically acclaimed HBO series, Scenes From a Marriage. Chastain is represented by CAA and Mosaic.
Gibson has CAA and Manage-ment as their representatives, while Heineman has CAA, Cinetic Media and Sloss Eckhouse as their representatives. WME, on the other hand, represents Hearst Magazines.
