Paris Hilton’s already extensive portfolio has expanded a great deal, she was already an American media personality, socialite, businesswoman, model, and entertainer. Then she went on to add becoming a masterful investor in NFT’s and crypto as well as being an author into that list. Hilton who is a great-granddaughter of Conrad Hilton, the founder of Hilton Hotels has always been in the public eye, however, this time her candor is immensely more telling of who she is.
Let’s begin with one tragedy she shared, which many unfortunately were quick to get curious about, including her interviewers when she was promoting her book. I am of course talking about her infamous sex tape. We discover in her memoir that the young Paris was manipulated into making the explicit video.
“I don’t remember that much about the night he wanted to make a videotape while we made love,” she began.
“He had often said it was something he did with other women, but I felt weird and uncomfortable about it. I always told him, ‘I can’t. It’s too embarrassing.” She shared.
Eventually, the young Paris gave into his insistence after being assured,
“That no one else would ever see it.”
Nevertheless, she still felt as though she couldn’t go through with it, saying
“She wasn’t capable of the level of trust required to make a videotape like that.”
The actress then mentioned what she had to do to steady her nerves right before he began shooting.
“Had to drink myself silly,” she admitted.
“Quaaludes helped.” She added.
However it didn’t stop there, after a 34-second clip was leaked online, she pleaded with Salomon not to release the entire clip to which this piece of garbage said,
“He had every right to sell something that belonged to him — something that had a lot of financial value,” she wrote.
In her book, Paris explained that,
“If this was something I had chosen to do, I would have owned it … I would have stood by it, capitalized on it, licensed the shit out of every frame, and then boogied on over to the bank without apologizing to anyone.” She said.
Of her highly successful reality show “The Simple Life”, co-starring her famous friend Nicole Richie which premiered soon thereafter she had this to say,
“I was playing a character for The Simple Life, which, again, I think was a trauma response,” she told Harper’s Bazaar Arabia on March 6.
“And then [I had] to continue that character season after season. In every interview, people assumed that’s just who I was in real life … Plus there were no social media, so my story was just told by the media and people trying to sell stories, make money off of me, and makeup lies. I think maybe at some point or some level. I was living my best life,” Hilton recalls.
“I was having a wild-child moment, and it was sort of glorious.” She shared
Another tragic incident she shares, one that she says was an “intensely private agony that’s impossible to explain” was her abortion at the age of 22.
“It all came crashing down when I realized I was pregnant at 22. It was like waking up on the ledge outside a 40th-floor window. I was terrified and heartsick,” she said.
She also added that she noted how pregnancy hormones,
“Sent my ADHD symptoms spiraling. Everything I knew about myself was at war with everything I’d been raised to believe about abortion. No one can ever know how hard it is to face this impossible choice unless she’s faced it herself.”
She was also quick to mention at this point that her decision had nothing to do with her then-boyfriend Tommy Hilfiger model Jason Shaw, with whom she had been for two years and was deeply in love.
“It had nothing to do with him or a baby. I just wasn’t capable of being honest or loyal or whole. After suffering abuse at Provo Canyon School and three other programs within the ‘troubled teen’ industry network, I was damaged in ways I couldn’t tell him about, and the fact that I never confided in him about my past — that says it all, doesn’t it? Secrets are corrosive,” she shared.
“They destroy anything you try to layer over them.”
