Peacock has greenlit Bel-Air for a third season. Bel-Air is receiving a remake.
On Friday, the streamer revealed that Season 3 of the series has been greenlit and viewers can tune into new episodes through April 27.
Upon its launch on Peacock in 2020, Bel-Air was the streaming service’s highest viewership premiere. Season 2 has earned even more viewers, becoming Peacock’s highest viewed sophomore original series.
Bel-Air is a remake of the ’90s television show The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, following the story of Will (Jabari Banks) as he moves from West Philadelphia to the affluent Bel-Air neighborhood. The series focuses on the power of second chances and how two very different worlds can collide, evoking conflicting emotions and challenging preconceived biases.
Season 2 follows Will as a new figure enters his life and forces him to confront ideas that conflict with what he has learnt in Bel-Air. This occurs as he is rebuilding the trust lost during the previous season within his Banks family home. We will observe Will and Carlton’s brotherhood as it strengthens yet maintains their contrasting perspectives. Hilary’s development into a boss in her influencer world and consequent relationship with Jazz will be explored, together with the relatable struggles of Viv and Phil as they attempt to build their own careers, cherish marriage and family union all at once.
The cast of the series includes Banks, Adrian Holmes, Cassandra Freeman, Olly Sholotan, Coco Jones, Akira Akbar, Jimmy Akingbola, Jordan L. Jones and Simone Joy Jones. In season 2, Tatyana Ali – who previously played Ashley Banks in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air – returned for a series of guest appearances.
Carla Banks Waddles is the showrunner for the series, with Morgan Cooper, Anthony Sparks, Malcolm Spellman, Will Smith, Terence Carter, James Lassiter, Miguel Melendez, Benny Medina, Quincy Jones, Andy & Susan Borowitz, TJ Brady and Rasheed Newson executive producing. The series is a co-production between Universal Television and Westbrook Studios.
