Bigger than Elvis, more in demand than Drake and even more popular than queen bee Beyonce herself, he was one of the biggest if not the biggest pop star the world had ever seen. Michael Jackson’s music transcended generational gaps, the color of people’s skin and some of it literally brought hope to the millions that heard it. Now, the elephant in the room is obviously the many allegations of sexual harassment against the late singer but I want to nib this in the bud before I even begin. Much like one of my favorite comedians and GOAT David Chapelle I do not believe that Michael Jackson did those things. With that out of the way lets get to the story at hand.
Now nearly 15 years after the superstars passing another controversy or tragedy call it what you will has affected Michael. Years of unreleased music, nearly 50 GB of it, has been leaked online. Now this might not seem like much to people outside the music industry, However, those in the know will tell you that having this occur can be detrimental to an artist. In this case to Michael’s kids who may be entitled to the rights and the monetary gains that come with releasing music. But unfortunately, now this will not happen. As a fan of the popstar I am excited to hear the unreleased songs but as a person and someone who has dabbled in music, it really does seem unfair that Michael’s kids will not be able to reap the rewards of his hard work.
